He was more than just a common man. He was 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes and it's extremely sad to report that this legend of sports & entertainment has passed away at the age of 69 of kidney failure.
The Dream began his career int the late 60's and since then the world of Professional Wrestling was never the same. From his epic battles with 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair and the rest of the Four Horseman to his wars with 'The Macho Man' Randy Savage.
Dusty was always the performer. He never had the body of the typical wrestler with an Adonis like physique, he was just like every other man and that was one of the many things that made fans want to root for him. But even beyond that The Dream was a talker. He knew how to cut a promo that could send chills up your spines. Especially his infamous Hard Times promo.
Dusty also gave back to the wrestling world by going behind the scenes and being a booker. He was in charge of the creative of WCW for many years and recently he worked with the young talent of NXT.
'The American Dream' will live on in his children Cody Rhodes and Dustin 'Goldust' Runnels, as well as all wrestling fans.
Requiescat in Pace Virgil Runnels A.K.A. 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes!!
